Q: How did you decide on your undergraduate course of study?
A: Career opportunities. Area of interest.
Q: In retrospect, what did you think were the most useful lessons/ skills/ knowledge you'd gained from your undergraduate education?
A: Study hard and play hard. Be open-minded and expose yourself to different areas. Build your network by interacting with people from different courses or countries.
Q: How has your undergraduate education influenced your career choice?
A: Yes, to a large extent.
Q: Briefly describe your current job scope.
A: Oversee production modules which involves troubleshooting and investigating of issues that may be related to equipment, computer system, instrument, raw materials etc. Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations, customer complaints. Implementing projects to optimize process to achieve cost savings and higher yield. Campaign planning in terms of ensuring that adequate raw materials/ intermediates are available and fit for purpose.
Q: To what extent is your current job related to your undergraduate course of study?
A: Not related at all - Majority of the skills required to perform my current job was acquired through on-the-job training.
Q: What are some additional areas you wish your undergraduate education could have covered?
A: More emphasis on the following areas: (i) Effective communication and presentation in workplace, social setting or interviews, (ii) Industry-specific knowledge, (iii) Networking skills.
