Story #29
Q: How did you decide on your undergraduate course of study?
A: I was looking for a course that could provide practical skills for the working world - hence the business degree. NTU because it provided the accelerated 3-year bachelor programme. I thought graduating faster was good... (I thought..)
Q: In retrospect, what did you think were the most useful lessons/ skills/ knowledge you'd gained from your undergraduate education?
A: The university curriculum - future value of money, how to conduct an interview etc - provided the theoretical understanding of the industry and practices. It was more the participation in co-curricular activities that provided the important life skills, such as organising events, how to engage people etc.
Q: How has your undergraduate education influenced your career choice?
A: Directly, I majored in Human Resource for my undergraduate education.
Q: Briefly describe your current job scope.
A: Human Resource, Learning and Development. We design leadership and soft-skills developmental interventions for management and staff, including training programmes, 360-degree feedback, competency frameworks etc.
Q: To what extent is your current job related to your undergraduate course of study?
A: Totally related - I acquired the skills required to perform the job through my undergraduate education/ The course was a pre-requisite for my job.
Q: What are some additional areas you wish your undergraduate education could have covered?
A: Wished I went for an overseas exchange!
