Q: How did you decide on your undergraduate course of study?
A: Engineering was the choiced field at that point in time.
Q: In retrospect, what did you think were the most useful lessons/ skills/ knowledge you'd gained from your undergraduate education?
A: Beyond the hard skills of engineering, to be able to think critically and analyse problem and develop solutions.
Q: How has your undergraduate education influenced your career choice?
A: Non whatsoever. I graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree but went to an IT multinational corporation. Only soft skills, if any skills, were of used.
Q: Briefly describe your current job scope.
A: Part time lecturing in School of Information at a local polytechnic. Subjects are new media and CRM. Practical experiences from previous IT positions brought value to the table.
Q: To what extent is your current job related to your undergraduate course of study?
A: Not related at all - Majority of the skills required to perform my current job was acquired through on-the-job training.
Q: What are some additional areas you wish your undergraduate education could have covered?
A: More emphasis on research, critical thinking and self-directed learning.
