Story #16
Q: How did you decide on your undergraduate course of study?
A: 1. By elimination - I knew I didn't want to do business / engineering, and a couple of others. 2. Interest in healthcare. 3. Some job shadowing opportunities gave me an idea of what to expect of a career as a dentist.
Q: In retrospect, what did you think were the most useful lessons/ skills/ knowledge you'd gained from your undergraduate education?
A: Content knowledge was important, for an evidence-based practice is needed in this day and age. Other important skills included patient management, treatment planning, multi-tasking. Most importantly, I realized that humans are fallible and we need to continue to strive to improve systems in healthcare. The learning should also never stop.
Q: How has your undergraduate education influenced your career choice?
A: It's perhaps the only career choice --- So think carefully :)
Q: Briefly describe your current job scope.
A: Examination, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment execution for dental problems.
Q: To what extent is your current job related to your undergraduate course of study?
A: Totally related - I acquired the skills required to perform the job through my undergraduate education/ The course was a pre-requisite for my job.
Q: What are some additional areas you wish your undergraduate education could have covered?
A: N.A.
