Q: How did you decide on your undergraduate course of study?
A: After my 12th examination I opted for company secretary course (CS). At the start, I found it very difficult to balance both the degrees that is post graduate and company secretary classes. In June 2013, I gave my first attempt of CS exam out of 3 attempts that occur only twice a year. I cleared my first part proceeded with second part that is executive level. It was tough. I didn't cleared in first attempt. I didn't give up. There were 3 groups consisting of 2 parts each which took me a year to complete. Later on in 2014, I cleared my second level of CS. Then came the last level which I cleared at a stretch after studying for 1 whole year. I cleared CS in June 2016. Simultaneously I was also studying Law which is corporate law based for companies. I got the degree of law before CS. Took many ups and down to get there but when I hit the success level, it feels just wonderful. Currently, working in a listed company doing my articleship for 12 months. Following the dream which I always wanted.
Q: In retrospect, what did you think were the most useful lessons/ skills/ knowledge you'd gained from your undergraduate education?
A: Useful lesson I learnt or one can say I have gained is that it life is full of possibilities, if you try and do not give up it will surely come to you. After gaining this degree, parents are for sure happy and proud which is a moment to cherish for the whole lifetime. Also, I got to learn so many new things after joining my very first job. Doing job since 9 months only but i have gained so much experience like how one work in a company with full of opportunities. Everyday there is an obstacle coming and how we solve it is upon us. I still read books and study... because everyday or the other law changes there is something new everyday to learn about. I think till the time we live we should gain knowledge as much as possible. Life is full of opportunities we can go through it and make ourselves active in every part of the work we do. The only thing to keep in mind is work hard and success is your way. Thank you.
Q: What are some additional areas you wish your undergraduate education could have covered?
A: N.A.
Q: Briefly describe your current job scope.
A: My current job scope is related to quarterly filing of legal compliance; it involves how to use electronic portal if a director or company secretary or managing director etc. of a company resigns, how one should file e-forms online affixing DSC (digital signature certificate) and file those forms to our corporate authorities so they know in a company who is appointed or somebody has resigned. One can also fill forms and apply for DIN no. ( Director Identification Number) so that particular director has it own din no. And which is mandatory for a director to have one. Company secretary is all about drafting. By drafting I meant, how to draft any matter so precisely word to word that even a big matter is formed in such a small and sweet manner which even a layman gets it. It also involves legal compliance that every listed company has to follow be it daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or half - quarterly.
Q: How has your undergraduate education influenced your career choice?
A: Undergraduate education has influenced my career a lot. The very first thing which influenced me was my skills and abilities to perform any task given. First you need to identify the activities you enjoy and then you can go through a level of competency. The next thing which influenced me was my interest and personality, which is widely used to connect the personality types and career fields. Always choose a personal preferences to job characteristics. The next main thing which influenced me is life roles. The fact that we play multiple roles in our lives and that this roles changes over a period of time. How we think of ourselves in these roles,t he requirements of them and the external forces that affects them, may influence how we look at our careers in general and how we make choices for ourselves.
Q: To what extent is your current job related to your undergraduate course of study?
A: Somewhat related.
Q: What is one competitive advantage your university offers? (From your perspective)
A: Competitive advantage which my university offers is that after clearing or after becoming company secretary (CS) there is a 12 months training which each and every student have to undergo so that the basic skills is developed, which is very much useful in future handling big projects in company.
