DATA DOUBLE CONFIRM

Top 10 Global Passport Power Rank - Product - Tableau

This is Part II of a two-part blogpost. Part I talks about the process of developing the visualization below and Part II discusses the insights gleaned from the product.

Discussion:

- This visualization may be most useful for understanding the distribution of Type of visas required of a particular passport by the geographical locations and proximity of other countries. This allows us to spot if there could be any trend in the treatment of visa among countries geographically close together - this does seem to be the case. It might be worth exploring the possibility of establishing a visa-free entry relationship to countries whose neighbours are already visa-free partners.

- Comparisons with other countries also allow us to see if certain countries are generally not open to visa-free relations and hence indicating the difficulty in establishing a visa-free entry relationship.

- Using this to look up a particular country's visa requirements for the Top 10 passports listed might be challenging as the user needs to know the geographical location of the country of interest.

- The map does not allow us to quantify the distribution and hence it might be interesting to look at another type of data representation (such as a bar chart).

- Further work can include updating with historical data to assess how visa requirements of other countries for a particular passport has changed over time.
